Do I need to offer sexual harassment training to all my employees?

Depending on the jurisdiction and the size of the company, several training programmes may be required for sexual harassment prevention for employees. Yet, in many countries, businesses are compelled to educate their staff on sexual harassment.


In the United States, some states have specific requirements for sexual harassment prevention training. For instance, California's SB 1343 requires employers with five or more employees to provide at least two hours of sexual harassment prevention training to all supervisory employees and at least one hour of training to all non-supervisory employees.


Sexual harassment training is nevertheless strongly advised even though it is not always legally required, as it can assist to build a safe and courteous workplace, and in turn help to avoid legal claims, and foster a productive work environment.


Since everyone in the company has a part to play in preventing and treating sexual harassment, it is crucial to offer training to all employees, not just managers. Although harassment prevention is an ongoing activity that needs constant attention and reinforcement, offer regular training is a crucial step.
